Privacy

Private by default.

Markdown Mate is built around a simple principle: your notes belong to you.

Your data is yours

Markdown Mate is designed with a local-first philosophy. We believe your notes are private and should remain under your control.

No data collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information or the content of your notes. Markdown Mate does not have backend servers, accounts, or tracking systems.

Local storage

All your notes are stored directly on your computer's file system as standard Markdown (.md) files. Markdown Mate only accesses the folders you explicitly grant it permission to open.

No analytics or tracking

The app does not include analytics, crash reporting, or third-party tracking scripts. Your usage of the app is entirely private.

App sandboxing

Markdown Mate uses macOS sandboxing technology. This ensures the app can only access the specific files and folders you choose, providing an additional system-level layer of security.
